Biography
Pateena Donnely-Gorissen is a multi-disciplined artist based in New South Wales. Her work explores themes of the interaction and dialogue between the 'self' and nature. Working from the perspective that art is a complete language in its own right and exploring the therapeutic dialogue that takes place between both the artist and subject as well as the viewer and subject. Using a variety of materials which include found objects, cement, stone, clay, paint, and textiles, Pateena creates richly layered works to form emotional and though provoking responses from the viewer.
Pateena holds a BCA from UOW as well as Dip in Transpersonal art therapy, her work has been Selected and exhibited in galleries in NSW and Queensland. She has received several awards for both painting and sculpting.
In addition to her artistic practice, Pateena is also a teaching artist and Transpersonal art therapist. Pateena currently lives and works in Stanwell Park, NSW
